A Change of Plans.....Wes is having surgery THIS THURSDAY!

God has shown me once again that when it comes to this miracle little boy in my life...that HE IS ULTIMATELY IN CONTROL!! Just when we wrapped our minds around the fact that Wes's surgery would be in August now...we found out today that a surgery day SUDDENLY became available for THIS Thursday!! Our surgeon's office called and said they'd like for Wes to take this earlier date...and well...after feeling instantly "SICK"...I said OK!!
So...with only 3 days notice...Wes is going to have his big surgery on THIS THURSDAY, July 14th!! I'm glad to be getting it over with...but I'm also not mentally prepared..and maybe that's good!! Not much time to really think about it now..and we'll just be going in like a deer in headlights!!
I'm so thankful we got these family shots done BEFORE Wes had his surgery..I thought I was getting them done a month before surgery....but come to find out..it was only a week before surgery!!
I really don't get too nervous about too many things...but thinking of my boy having this surgery on Thursday...well...just makes me want to puke!! It's just the thought of him being taken away from me...the thought of him going through pain..the thought of him not being able to open his eyes after surgery to see me...BUT praying God protects him and eases his fears and pains...and that my voice alone after surgery will be able to calm him!!

We LOVE you Wes Paulos...and I pray the world will pray with us for a safe and successful surgery....and for a fast recovery for my sweet sweet boy!!! If I can get internet...I'll keep you all posted on how everything is going....

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.....Our family certainly appreciates your kindness...Happy Monday to you all, kj

  4. Kristi, we are praying in Portland! My two year old had two separate surgeries on her eye area this last year and I remember the "sick" feeling you are talking about before admitting her to the hospital. She is running around just fine now and I can't wait to see pics of Wes doing the same. Wish we lived closer. I would bring you guys dinner! Keep us posted.
    Love,

  17. I know what you mean about something sneaking up on you and you not having the time to worry about it. I love it when that happens (after I look back - LOL). Now you won't spend as much energy on this stressful event and that is truly a gift!

    You will be in my thoughts and I am wishing you the best! I'm confident things will turn out well.

    Remember to go back and read the good comments on your post about the surgery. Those were very positive and reassuring in my eyes.

    {hugs}

  22. Will definitely be praying for you and Wes this week for perfect surgery and fast recovery. I think the moving up of the surgery is definitely a blessing. It's nearly impossible to not get yourself worked up into a frenzy when you have months to worry about every little thing. When my 1yr old needed surgery the first date was 3months out. I was a basket case by then; one of things I was most stressed abotu was how late in the day his surgery would be and how I'd keep him from eating or drinking that day wihtout him thinking I was just being cruel. On surgery day he slept later than usual and we had to wake him up to get to the hospital on time and he never once mentioned food or drink in the hours of prep and waiting that followed. You may have completely different worries, but my experience is that the kids handle these things way better than their mommas!

  23. Hi Kristi,

    We have been home from China almost a year with or daughter. She has cleft lip and palate and we have had three surgeries. The BEST thing I did was a request a pre-med so she was drowsy and muted when it came time to pass her over. I was so scared of her feeling abandoned and doing this made it easier and WAY less traumatic on both her and I.

    Feel free to contact me to talk more!

  30. May the Lord encamp around little Wes, May He be the great physicain to lead the physicians hands, May He give ever abundant wisdom during this journey, may He give peace to calm any fear, May He bring strength and endurance when the road gets long and hard, May he use this season to bring your family unto Him and each other even closer; and May all you be surrounding by His mighty arms of love and strength in others, May He be seen in how you handle each and every moment...even in weaknes as the "world" calls it. May the surgery be flawlessly successful and may little Wes have an amazing recovery. In Jesus Name...Amen
