I've Had to Go PRIVATE!!

HI ALL!! Yes it is ME!! I've had to go private for reasons that are beyond my control right now!! Let this stand as a WARNING that someone has tried to steal my identity and has tried to impersonate my family as THEIR OWN!! They are using my information and pictures in fraudulent ways so please be careful IF someone is "saying" it is ME...because it might NOT BE!!! My intentions are NOT to scare ANYONE....but to keep all my blogging friends safe from this scam artist!! I'll miss each and every one of you, and I pray I'll be able to go back public in the future...BUT for now please pray for our family during this investigation time AND pray for this scam artist that he/she will find Jesus in their hearts!! This person can use all of us lifting him/her up in prayer!! If you'd like an "invite" to our private blog, you can leave a comment, but I'm not promising I'll be able to grant access...
Thank you again for your time, love and support!! This has been an amazing chapter in my book of life...AND, at some point...I'm hoping to make this BLOG all pretty again and still advocate for the orphan since that is what I feel God has called me to do....
All my love...and happy Saturday to you all, kj

  3. Had this happen with my bank card about a year ago. It took me well over six months to brave getting another. Sorry for this. Know the devil is fighting as you are such an advocate for orphans! Praying you will have all resolved soon and that you can continue to advocate for the orphan even if it must be in a different venue for now. Stay strong!

  9. Kristi... I am so sorry to hear this... but also encouraged in that God is using you so mightily that you would be subject to such an attack. You and your beautiful family are in our prayers through this time!

BTW, if you could add me, I would love to keep following you... we're praying about starting our own adoption journey to Africa in 2010. Your "gotcha day" video made a huge impact on us, and we're likely to use AGCI to help us! If you can't add me, I completely understand. No matter what, we are thankful for the exposure you already have given to the plight of orphans, and for helping to make clear the call of God on our own hearts.

    Thanks, Nikki

  13. Wow I'm so sorry... what a horrible thing to go through! I know you don't know me, but I'm one of your many faithful followers. I'm 20 years old and going to school in Oregon, but from Alabama. I found your blog about a year ago and through your blog and a few others I've fallen in love with Ethiopia and adoption. I was just accepted to go on a month long mission trip to Ethiopia this coming summer and I couldn't be more excited. I would LOVE to continue following your family, but I understand if that's not possible at this time. You're welcome to add me on facebook or email me. Again I'm so sorry and your family will be in my prayers!

This is outrageous that someone would do this! I am terribly saddened for you and your family. You have always been so gracious and welcoming us all into your family but I completely understand the need to go private. I'd love to keep following your story as your family is what has led me to start an orphan/adoption ministry at my own church. But I understand if not. Bless you and I hope everything works out for the best. God bless you.

  49. Oh my! I had to do a double take when your blog popped up! How disheartning to say the least that something like this would happen. I enjoy checking in with your family everyday, so if you could add me, that would be great. I totally understand if you are hesitant to add people you don't know personally. I am adopting from Reeces Rainbow and we are traveling next month to get our little guy. You have been to my blog before and left me a nice comment about putting information about Reeces Rainbow on your site.

  82. I do not have my own blog. I am not currently adopting. I began 'blogstalking' when my BFF starting her adoption. She does have a blog and is leaving with her family of five in TWO days to pick up their baby girl from Africa and to become a family of 6. (her blog is thesalyersfamily.blogspot.com) They will all be in Africa for 10 days--yep, through Christmas. My friend and I have cried over your 'Gotcha Day' video and used it as an guide to make sure they document their entire stay. Your blog has helped me be a better friend to understand the whole adoption process.
I am amazed at how you can get everyone out of the house each day looking so cute and am thankful for all your 'real' photos, too! It is good to know my kitchen isn't the only one that is destroyed on a regular basis. I am a single mom of three girls and never have all three 'bow'ed up--I am jealous!! lol

I would love to continue to follow your family but understand your need for privacy. I pray for all of you and the orphans you advocate for. Thanks for sharing so much!!

  83. So sorry to hear that this has happened to your family. I had my banking info stolen in the Spring and it was not fun, so we really feel for you and your family. I hope that you'll invite me to continue to follow your blog. We are in the midst of our first Ethiopian adoption, and in Canada, the time frames are much longer than the US, so we check your blog regularly to remind us that this adoption will happen! We also have shirts from Pitter Patter art and contacted you before through email about the shirts, so we're a legitimate adoptive family. One quote comes to mind that I hope will give you some comfort, "Don't tell God how big your storm is, tell your storm how big your God is! We know who will win that won! Your in our thoughts and prayers.

  86. Like a lot of the posters here, you don't know me, but I absolutely LOVE your blog. I have followed you since you were filling out dossiers and cry everytime I watch your "Gotcha Day" video. I have always had it in my heart to adopt (I'm current pregnant with #2) and your blog has totally inspired me (and my husband!) I would totally and completely understand if you chose not to add me to your invited readers, but I just wanted to let you know I am praying for you and your beautiful family during this time. God Bless!!

  87. Hello Kristi,

I am a student from University of Minnesota Duluth and I have loved following your blog. You have inspired me to adopt a child someday from Africa and I would love to keep reading your blog. I'm so sorry you and your family have to go through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you can add me to your blog. My email address is brpawlow@student.lsc.edu.

I will sure miss your posts and looking at the pictures you post of LL. She is adorable little girl.

  89. I do not have my own blog. I am not currently adopting. I began 'blogstalking' when my BFF starting her adoption. She does have a blog (thesalyersfamily.blogspot.com) and is leaving with her family of five in ONE day to pick up their baby girl from Africa and to become a family of 6. They will all be in Africa for 12 days--yep, through Christmas.

Again, you have made me a better friend! Thank You!!!

  90. Kristi,

My goodness - THAT is horrible! My goodness, my heart truly goes out to your family during what must be a difficult time. You have been SO open about your adoption journey and you don't deserve this AT ALL! I just can't believe it. Ugh.

I would love access to your new blog, but I understand either way. This is Kim, I have e-mailed with you several times, including about 'the brothers' - hopefully you remember me! We are still waiting and praying for our future children to join our family :o). I owe you SO MUCH, you have opened my eyes again and again throughout this process.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers!

I am really sorry to hear this and take it as a warning to now go private on our adoption blog so that I can protect our family also. This is my daily fix and I'd love to continue to follow if you are able to grant me access. If you can't, I understand that the safety of your family comes first. Our adoption journey blog address is www.lifeabitsweeter.blogspot.com ...well, of course, I'll have to grant you access now that I'm going private.

How can I get through my day without reading your daily stories of your blessed family...especially the kitchen photos...and those precious children. I live in MN and have shared Lucy's video with my married kids, friends, etc. If there's a way to grant me access to your blog, please do. We are originally from Illinois, so I have enjoyed several of the blogs featured on your blog. We own a resort in northern MN and I hope to build a blog of our wonderful place soon. I hope to be able to continue reading about your wonderful family.

  96. Wow Kristi.... That is so sad that something you and your family were willing to share with the world to spread the joy of what God has done in your life, what you've helped others to bring into their lives has been spoiled in such a way. I'd love an invite too, I'll miss my LL fix. ;) What's important is that you protect your family first. We'll be praying for your family and the children that you continue to advocate for. I feel like you have given me so much energy to do more with each day, you seem like you can make the little part of a day an interesting adventure! I am a 48 yr old married grandmother from AL , we are raising one of our grandchildren (5 yr old boy). Since your blog we have been including theorphans in our family bedside nightly prayers(our grandson prays specifically for Sam and his siblings in the orphanage your sister went to help set up)! I wish so much that I had my eyes opened at a younger age to the orphans. I would love to be inlcluded on your blog, but will understand if you cant pick us all. We will add this specific prayer for your family tonite! Oh I am so going to miss you in the morning!:( Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

You have opened my eyes to the needs around me. Challenging and inspirational. I understand if you don't include me..I never comment. I'm a mother of 5 kiddos...loves the Lord...and is seeking where He is calling us as a family. Thank you for sharing your precious heart and love for children. I cried when I watched your video...made my family watch it!! And you make it look so easy to adopt when I feel overwhelmed with all the details. God bless your ministry to your family and friends! 105. Hi Kristi!

Sorry if this message appears twice. I tried posting once already, but I don't think it worked. I'm soo sorry to hear of your family's situation. I had my banking info stolen in the spring, and it is not fun at all! I'd still like to follow along on the private blog though if possible. We are in the midst of our first adoption from Ethiopia, and the wait times in Canada are much longer than in the US, so we follow the blog and it reminds us that this adoption will happen for our family. You'll get through this though....I keep thinking of a quote that I love when I need a little extra faith and encouragement: "Don't tell God how big your storm is, tell the storm how big your God is". We know who wins that contest! Hang in there! We're praying for you.

I cant believe that one person would come along and ruin such a good thing. Such a God thing! You, single handely (or should I say single-blog-ley) were changing peoples lives, giving orphans hope, and just sharing life. All those things were so important and It breaks my heart to know that random people cant just click over and find your blog anymore!

Your blog reaches soo many for such a beautiful purpose. It allows people to see the tangibility (word?) of adoption. When we walk in such a mighty and purposeful way for God's great call I know it Infuriates Satan. God has used your blog for His Glory, for His children, His purpose. I pray He hedges your family. I would LOVE to continue to follow but your safety obviously comes first. Just add me if you can!!! Praying to see how God uses this experience for HIS purpose. Blessings

I am passionate about helping orphans as well; I have just graduated from college and am about to go to Eastern Europe with an adoption agency (Bethany Christian Services) to volunteer in children's homes. I hope to work in adoption when I return to the US, so I have loved getting to see a family's perspective who has adopted. 127. Kristi, I am so sorry to hear that someone is taking something so wonderful (your blog) and making it a dangerous place for your family to share their story. I realize you don't know me, but you have certainly inspired me. My husband and I have three kids, just submitted our dossier last week, and can't wait to meet our daughter in Ethiopia!!! We just told our families last week (we were a little nervous to share the news with them). They were a little shocked, so the first thing I did was show them your blog and your video from your journey to Lucy Lane! They were so touched by it. It made it easier for them to see what the trip, experience and process was like. Thank you so much for sharing that with all of us! I hope to be able to follow you, but understand if you are not going to be able to allow all of us to view your new site. Thanks for all that you have done and good luck with the future of your blog,

I'm very sorry to hear about what has happened to you and your family - I can't imagine what you must be going through. I pray you find a way through this, so you can continue to advocate on behalf of orphans.

    My best,

    Nicole

  150. We're going to be sad not being able to read about Lucy Lane. You were such a great blogger with daily updates and beautiful inspiring pictures to give us hope for our adoption. My 10 yr old will be sad to hear this. We would love to be invited to your private blog but understand your concerns. How could someone take something so good and ruin it - we will pray for them.

I am so very sorry you have to go thru this! My mom just had something similar happen with banking information. Scary! I have enjoyed reading about your family, and watching Miss LL grow! I would love to continue to follow your story! You have opened my heart to the orphan and I am so grateful! I pray someday I can share my story with you!

    Blessings to your family!

  157. Now I want to cry...I will miss very much "watching" LL grow up. Your blog is the one I get excited to see everyday. I am so sorry this is happening to your family. Someday I hope to share my family's story with you too....Until we "meet" again, may God shine His light down upon you....

  158. Dear Kristi, So sorry that you are having to go thru this. I appreciate your being an advocate for orphans. And thank God for bringing your precious LL into your home. Would love to continue to follow your blog, but will understand if it cannot be. Prayers for you.

  159. Hi Kristi! I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I've had the same thing happen with bank cards, etc. before but I'm sure not on the same level as you're dealing with. Please know you're in my thoughts and prayers. I messaged you before as I enjoy your blog because of the likelihood I will be adopting one day, due to being in premature ovarian failure at 29. I love seeing how your family meshes the customs of LL's home country with those of the US and its so inspiring to me to see your sweet family. That being said, I understand needing to protect yourself so if you can't grant acces, I understand. I also don't have a bloggers account or anything...

    Always -

  161. Hi Kristi,
I've been following your blog for months now. I'm sad that it takes this for me to finally comment. I am so sorry for what your family is going through. You are such an amazing woman and advocate for the widow and orphan. I am constantly inspired by your words and look forward to reading your blog each day. My eight year old is head over heels with Lucy Lane and your family. I think she's watched your Gotcha Day video a dozen times. I am praying for your family and for the person responsible for this. Of course I would love to be continue following your story but completely understand your need to keep things private. Thank you for the time you have shared with us all!
Merry Christmas to you and your family~

  162. Hi Kristi,
I am so sorry to hear you're going through this! I am another one of your MANY followers who is going to miss checking on your family every day! I first found your blog from your Gotcha Day video, and have had a couple of e-mail conversations with your sister. Your video inspired me toward adoption again (have had a heart for it for a long time) and your blog has been such an inspiration and support while I wait on my husband to have the same heart! I would absolutely LOVE to be invited to continue following, but completely understand that it probably isn't possible right now. We have a family blog at
    www.schmiedekenews.blogspot.com
We will be praying for your family.

  163. Kristi,
wow! Unbelieveable. God has given you a voice in advocating for these orphans and clearly the adversary hates these babies. Just when I get down about fundraising, this stuff just gives me the boost to push on! Would love to follow if there is room.

  164. I was brought to your blog by a friend who is also adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. I have loved reading about the journey the Lord has taken your family on as your prepared for Lucy. My husband and I are expecting our first child in March after years of waiting for God to bless us with a pregnancy. Seeing the way He fulfills his promise for a family in others is truly inspirational. I am so sorry your family is being intruded upon by this person and I will pray that it ceases. I will miss following your blog and look forward to the day I can hear your updates again!

  165. Oh gosh! That is horrible!! I'm so frustrated that this has happened to you and your family. I love reading about you guys...it's like my morning cup of coffee. :) Good luck with this, if you can't add me, I understand....I just don't know what I'm going to do first thing now when I get to work in the mornings....I guess work. lol....I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. God bless and happy holidays!!! :)

  166. Kristi,
I am saddened that someone would intentionally do things to keep your family from being the beacon of light that you are for so many children around the world. Your passion for orphans is just plain inspiring.
Like many others, I've never commented before, but I've been following your blog for a while. My husband and I have planned to adopt since before we were married, and we're finally getting close to starting the process. Your story has been the daily encouragement we've needed to help prepare ourselves and our family for the new addition to our family. If I may keep following your family's story, I'd love to. I've actually been wanting to email you to ask you some questions regarding adoption. I'm bummed I didn't do this earlier, because now I don't have your email address!
I will also be praying your site is able to go public again in order to keep reaching hearts all over the world to join you in advocating for the orphan.

    Thanks for your consideration.

  167. Like many others, you do not know who I am. I have been following your blog for three or four months and love seeing pictures of your children and following your promoting adoption . I am a mother of five grown children and a grandmother already, so I'm too old to adopt. I think you are doing a wonderful thing and I so admire the way you and your husband are raising your children, preferring spending all of your time with them. You have a beautiful family and a good heart. I would love to be able to still follow your blog, but I do not have my own and understand if you want to keep it private.

  168. aw man. this just sucks! why are people evil???? i think you have my old email address... please leave a comment on my blog if you don't... but also, you may want to switch over to wordpress (what i had to do) b/c blogger won't let you go private with more than 100 readers or something like that. and wordpress, even when public, is better at tracing who is reading your blog, etc... has extra protections. so so so sorry you're going through this!!!! (actually go ahead and use this email if you let me read... rvzalbertson at gmail

  170. Kristi, I'm so sorry to hear about what has happened to you and your family. I look at your blog every morning and the girls I work with think I'm crazy but that's okay. This is only my second time to post, the first was when you got you baby girl in the summer. LL is just beautiful and starts my day off with a smile. Your other babies are just as beautiful. I saw Gwen O. a couple of months back at a restaurant in Brentwood and recognized her from your blog. When I started talking to her my two teenage boys (13 and 16) thought I was out of my mind. When I'm in the Cool Springs/Brentwood/Franklin area I'm always on the lookout for you and your family. Maybe one day I'll run into you. Would love to continue to read your blog each day but if it's not possible I understand and I'll just catch you when this nightmare is over. Take care and love on those beautiful babies of yours.

  171. Hey Kristi,
What a shame that someone would do such a thing. I know this must be heartbreaking to you but trust me when I say WE are heartbroken. My husband and I attended the Together for Adoption conference in Franklin in October and there decided to follow God's calling to adopt. Your blog has been a daily inspiration to us as we have not missed a day in the past month or so. We also plan to adopt from Ethiopia and therefore hope that we can still follow your efforts in advocating for the orphan. If you feel comfortable granting me access, you can reach me at pollybice@aol.com. You can also check me out of FB if you'd like. Again, so sorry for your family but you keep enjoying those sweet babies and let the LORD work this out in His timing.
    Praying for your family,
    Polly

    God bless and good luck!

I hope to continue reading your blog...it was so amazing when I realized your sisters and my husband jason went to high school together. It really is a small world! We are headed to Hopkinsville next weekend to celebrate Christmas. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and safe travels home!

  176. Kristi, I don't even remember how I found your blog. I think I saw the link on one of my friend's daughters blog, who is adopting from Ethiopia. I do not have a blog, BUT have 3 children that do, and I have so much enjoyed reading about your family and your wonderful heart for orphans. My children tell me all the time that I should adopt..I tell them I am TOO old, I am a grandmother now:) I enjoy all your adventures with your children and it reminds me to pray for the orphans. This is so sad that this joy has been "robbed" from you..the joy of sharing about your family and your heart. I will certainly be praying and hope to be able to stay connected. I will look forward to being able to read your blog again soon.

  179. WOW!!! I am greatly saddened that your family is going through this! Satan is trying to throw a monkey wrench on what has and is a blessing to so many! BUT, our God is SO MUCH BIGGER AND HE WILL ONCE AGAIN BE VICTORIOUS! I pray that when this matter is resolved you will once again be able to go public. I would love an invitation to your blog, if possible. If not, just like many other readers have said, I completely understand!
Thank you for sharing your family with us! Lucy Lane is such a highlight for our family! We will definitely miss reading daily about her adventures, especially when they involve George! I cannot imagine a long period of time not seeing pictures of those cute little cheeks and sweet bare feet!
Your love for and desire to make a difference in the lives of orphans is so uplifting and inspiring! I pray that God will quickly resolve all you are going through right now. I also pray for the person who invaded your family's lives. I pray he/she would see God's face, repent and seek His forgiveness.
Thank you again for sharing so much with us!

    From our family to yours:
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  187. Kristi -- I am so sorry to hear this news. I will be praying that the enemy will be defeated and you will once again be able to share your beautiful story and heart for adoption with the public. I came across your blog through following the Lucht's blog. I met the Lucht's a few months before they brought Silas home. My husband is Ethiopian and so, needless to say, I have quite a soft spot in my heart for Ethiopia. Each time I have visited, I find myself wanting to bring so many children home with me -- unfortunately, it's not that easy! I am so encouraged by your heart for adoption and for being such an inspiration to so many. I would love to continue to follow your blog, but I do completely understand if this is not possible In any case, I will continue to keep you and your sweet family in my prayers.

  189. This unfortunate incident has brought me out of hiding. I have stalked...oops...I mean followed your blog for months now. I can't even remember how I found it, except that God seemed to lead me there...we have much in common. My last name is also Johnson, I have four little ones (all boys ages 6 and under), and my hubby and I long to adopt sometime soon. Your blog inspired me to keep on following the dream that God planted in our hearts (the savings account for our adoption has been opened), and hope that I could really survive 5 young children. :) Thanks for allowing God to use you in my life...and I hope things get worked out for your family.

  197. Hi K,
I'm so sorry for whatever is happening and hope and pray you will get through it soon. My 3 year old goes to dayschool on the same schedule as one of yours. I always see you carrying little LL and can't help but feel a strong pull towards that beautiful little girl. I found your blogspot on the X-mas card board and just wept watching the adoption video. I'm trying to figure out my purpose and why I am so drawn to these orphans. Is it mission work or adoption? I'm sure with alot of prayer I will figure that out. I pray you will get through this mess fast because I think if more people watched the video, there would fewer orphans in the world!
